NORWEGIAN LADIES CHORUS
SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Purpose:
The
Norwegian Ladies Chorus of Seattle is offering scholarships through its
Scholarship Fund. There will be two to three awards totaling up to $1,500.
These scholarships are intended to promote the musical endeavors of students
in the ideals of the Norwegian community to encourage and support their
future. Applicants will be judged on merit alone as determined by the
Scholarship Committee’s evaluation of the applicant’s written proposal
describing the purpose for which the scholarship will be used, two letters of
recommendation and an official copy of the student’s transcripts.
Eligibility:

Priority consideration shall be given to applicants whose course of study
aims toward a future in music or fields related, which ideally relate to
Norway or strengthening relations between Norway and the United States.

Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States,
residing in the greater Seattle area, enrolled in a course of study at a
high school, university or college in the Pacific Northwest

Applicants must have some demonstrable knowledge of music.

Applicants must have a minimum of a C+ grade point average, or its
equivalent.

Instructions to Applicants:
The
completed application and supporting material are due NO LATER THAN MAY 16,
2008
The
application must include:

The full name, address, and
telephone number of the applicant;
- A
typed written proposal outlining the purpose for which a scholarship
application is made. Describe any project which the scholarship is
intended to support and/or fully explain the purpose of the application;
- A
brief personal description;
- A
description of scholastic and non-scholastic awards received, charitable
activities and participation in organizations;
- Two
letters of recommendation from employers, teachers, or professors who are
familiar with your work;

Official copies of transcripts of all high school, university/college work
- Any
additional information or data you feel is appropriate for the Committee
to know; and why.
Scholarship recipients will be
notified about mid-May and will be expected to appear at a spring banquet in
June 3rd 2008 to receive the award and to write at least one progress report
letter during the following school year.
